Fiction Developmental Editor & Writing Coach
We’ve all had stumbling block moments, and now is the time to get support so you can get back on track.
Maybe you’re pantsing through a cozy mystery and hit a snag with a red herring, you’re not sure the POV you picked is quite right, your heroine/ hero got sidetracked by a subplot (characters, right?), you’re stuck trying to create the right magic system, or navigating the spice level on your romantasy.
Unlike a full developmental edit, which covers your entire manuscript, workshopping allows us to zero in on chapters, scenes, or specific elements of writing crafts like dialogue or navigating dropping clues at just the right moment.
I’ll offer guidance and actionable feedback both on the page and in an editorial letter to get you confidently back on track. Plus, you’ll have the option for a follow-up video call or a second editorial pass on your revisions.
“Rachel is the best editor I have ever worked with! She has a unique way of delivering her edits that makes you feel excited to make the changes instead of embarrassed that you need to edit that thing. Her deep knowledge of psychology allows her edits to enhance your writing so that it resonates deeper with your readers and helps you bring the rich complexity of your characters to life. Best believe she will be the first person I thank in my acknowledgements!”

You might be thinking, “Uh, Rachel, my writing group offers feedback for free. Why should I pay for it?”
“I received general feedback and specific edits from Rachel, and I was impressed. From her overall tone (upbeat, supportive, honest) to her keen eye, Rachel did not disappoint. I can highly recommend her to anyone wishing to improve their craft and reach their publishing goals.”

Each coaching session is an exciting opportunity to tighten your manuscript and sharpen your writing skills. Plus, you’ll discover both your writing strengths and pesky writing habits. Here’s what you can expect.
Whether it’s a full chapter, scintillating scene, or detailed outline, I’ll provide in-depth feedback on what’s working, what’s not, and how to boost elements like character development, pacing, dialogue, and story structure.
You’ll receive inline comments throughout your manuscript excerpt, including reactions, questions, and technique suggestions to improve clarity, style, and meet genre expectations.
Get a brief editorial letter summarizing my feedback with suggestions for next steps and resources. Plus, choose between a 45-minute call or submitting rewritten content for another review (must be submitted within one week of the workshop).
Do you want to have a coaching or craft session first? We can 100% do that, and you’ll have one week to send your writing in for feedback. Please note this replaces the normal follow-up call. We can do an additional 30 minute call or second round of revisions for an extra fee.
“The hardest part for me was getting started, and Rachel gently pushed me and offered me a structure to get going – and not to get stuck overworking any single chapter or paragraph (a big challenge for me!). I would have never started, let alone finished, without Rachel’s thoughtful, kind, and direct assistance. If you’re looking for a Method and Moxie, Rachel can help you.”
