Go From Book Idea To Complete Draft With Book Coaching!
Writing a book is intense and rewarding. You’ll be spending 6-12+ months writing and editing your memoir, self-help, personal development, spiritual, or other nonfiction book. And don’t forget, years talking about, marketing, and possibly writing about the same topic.
Book coaching is a very collaborative process where I’ll chime in with ideas and feedback. You’ll get 1:1 support for your questions and concerns. Rest assured that hard work is 110% worth it when you have a finished first draft manuscript ready for revision or an editor.
Depending on which option you choose, I’ll help you by:
- Brainstorming book ideas or answering your questions
- Creating a master book plan or outline
- Talking about the self-publishing process
- Setting goals and planning next steps
- Talking about author voice, writer's block, storytelling craft, or imposter syndrome
- Giving you feedback on a section, chapter, or other book content (up to 3,000 words)
- Recommending resources to help grow your writing skills
- Assessing which publishing option is the best match (and how to pursue it)

That all depends on my availability for the services you select. Book coaching calls and feedback normally happen within two weeks. Developmental editing can take six to eight weeks depending on the length of your project and how much TLC it needs.
When you click to book any service, I need to get to know you, your project, and your goals. So I’ll gather general information about:
- Your writing experience
- Current work in progress
- Publishing goals
- Book goals
- What you want to get our of our time together
- How you like to receive feedback
While we work together you’ll get feedback on 3,000 words per call which will help you develop your writing skills, a scene, or chapter within your draft. But, manuscripts go through multiple drafts and revisions before they’re ready for publishing or sending with a query letter – so YES you will still need to do self-editing and professional editing.
The ideal steps would be beta reading (or a manuscript review), developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, and finally proofreading. If you’re self-publishing you will need to arrange those yourself. If you are traditionally publishing, your publisher might provide some or all of these services. But, you will want to at least get a manuscript review or developmental edit before submitting materials to an agent!!!
I offer beta reading, manuscript reviews, and developmental editing. If you need other editing services I can refer you to some excellent copy editors and proofreaders.
No one can guarantee your book will be a bestseller, secure you an agent, or land you a publishing deal. If they do… run for the hills. There are zero absolutes in writing and publishing.
Yes, we will both sign a book coaching contract when you enroll in coaching that lays out the terms of the coaching relationship, payment plans, and NDA.
