Personalized Story Coaching

We’ve all had stumbling block moments, and now is the time to get support so you can get back on track.

Maybe you need help choosing which story to write, need to hash out some pesky plot points, need help finding your writing voice, want to dig deep into character development, or a laundry list of writing craft questions. No worries, I’ve got your back.

Unlike a full developmental edit, which covers your entire manuscript, workshopping allows us to zero in on chapters, scenes, or specific elements of writing crafts like dialogue or character motivation.

I’ll offer guidance and actionable feedback on the page. Plus, we’ll have a call to chat about your questions or revisions.

Please note that I do not cover topics related to publishing, querying an agent/ publisher, or book marketing.

“Rachel is the best editor I have ever worked with! She has a unique way of delivering her edits that makes you feel excited to make the changes instead of embarrassed that you need to edit that thing. Her deep knowledge of psychology allows her edits to enhance your writing so that it resonates deeper with your readers and helps you bring the rich complexity of your characters to life. Best believe she will be the first person I thank in my acknowledgements!”

Skip the biased opinions

You might be thinking, “Uh, Rachel, my writing group offers feedback for free. Why should I pay for it?”

“I received general feedback and specific edits from Rachel, and I was impressed. From her overall tone (upbeat, supportive, honest) to her keen eye, Rachel did not disappoint. I can highly recommend her to anyone wishing to improve their craft and reach their publishing goals.”

All the fun stuff

Each coaching session is an exciting opportunity to tighten your manuscript and sharpen your writing skills. Here’s what you can expect.

Tackle one issue or topic

We can brainstorm, talk about plot, look at a scene/ chapter, explore your writing voice, or any other craft-related question on your mind. You have my undivided attention for one hour.

Gentle edits

You’ll receive comments throughout your excerpt, including reactions, questions, and suggestions for strengthening the content tailored to your most pressing concerns. You’ll also get a suggestion for resources and next steps.

“The hardest part for me was getting started, and Rachel gently pushed me and offered me a structure to get going – and not to get stuck overworking any single chapter or paragraph (a big challenge for me!). I would have never started, let alone finished, without Rachel’s thoughtful, kind, and direct assistance. If you’re looking for a Method and Moxie, Rachel can help you.”
